 Mark today (15th May 2012) attended an event at the House of Commons to show his support for people suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.). The event was organised by Action for M.E., the leading UK charity for sufferers and their carers. The event comes during M.E. awareness month and marks the charity's campaign, Time for Action. This campaign aims to draw attention to the ignorance, injustice and neglect surrounding this illness.

 

9th May 2012

 Mark Garnier has welcomed the decision by No10 to launch a review of 'opt-in' rules to access adult online content.

Under the plans set out by the Government, it would be up to customers to opt in to receiving adult content when they sign up for a broadband contract.

Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, is continuing to keep up the pressure on ministers to address an imbalance in the school funding system which leaves pupils in Worcestershire with less.

19th April 2012

Mark has today (19th April 2012) called for the Government to give serious consideration to expanding Birmingham airport into a UK hub airport. Mark said that doing so will bring thousands of jobs to the region particularly as journey times from London will be significantly decreased with the arrival of HS2.

18th April 2012

 Mark today (13th April 2012) initiated a meeting between Maria Miller MP, Minister for State for Families, and the Worcestershire Family Intervention Project (WFIP), formally based in Kidderminster. The meeting follows on from a visit to Birchen Coppice Primary School by Iain Duncan Smith, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, which took place last October.

 Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, made a speech in the House of Commons on Friday (23rd March) in which he drew attention to some of the good things that are going on in Kidderminster. These included planning applications for local development, significant investment in local businesses and the Wyre Forest Jobs Fair.

 Mark Garnier MP for Wyre Forest has welcomed a Westminster Hall debate praising the Government’s Work Experience scheme.

Mark Garner, MP for Wyre Forest, has been making a strong case in Parliament for the need to tackle the problem of metal theft. Over the last week, Mark, who is vice chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Combating Metal Theft, has been meeting with interested local groups, speaking in debates and meeting Government ministers to deal with the issue.

Mark Garnier has joined with 105 other, cross party, MPs in writing to the Prime Minister urging a reduction in the amount of subsidy given to onshore wind.

Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, welcomes the announcement by the Home Secretary that cash payments for scrap metal will be made illegal. In a written statement to MPs, Theresa May announced that the Government would lay an amendment to the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill to do so.
